Quiet Island

Quiet Island
With her work, Quiet Island, the artist gives figurative form to gentle and beautiful imaginations of women by using white marble. Tumbling along the waves of delicate, fine lines, leaping schools of fish are joyfully presented. The lengths of the houses surrounding the coast feature the same round-shaped trees whose roots extend and surge out to sea along the waves. The sea of trees and houses present an amiable and pleasing little scene. The white marble no longer seems to be of a lofty, holy, or abstract nature. Yet, if it were a white clay-like piece of paper, a childish fantasy landscape would be able to be formed.
