Karate
For this work, Karate, sculptor Tsung-Hui Lin did not choose to use classical Karate forms as immediately recognizable symbols for viewers. Instead, the twists and turns across the stone reveal the fierce and bold movements found in the martial art. Even amidst the momentum, a commitment to balance and an extended release of power is maintained. This work provides an overall charm without providing a tremendous amount of realistic portrayal. Instead, it is able to materialize an unconstrained moment in time that highlights the breath and speed of body movements amidst a self-less performance of true skill.
