The Second Rotation
With this work, the artist challenges the plasticity of stone and the eyes of the viewers. At first glance, the work is just a simple, upright column. But, at a closer look, people would realize its edges are curved upwards as they climb ascend from the base. This simply and effectively creates the illusion of a stone slowly rotating by itself spiraling upward on its own free will. It also explores a sense of fun regarding three-dimensional geometric shapes, and takes on an even deeper level of meaning: Everything is not necessarily as you might see it. Open your eyes wide and look closely. This will rotate the truth you believe to know.
