The artist tries to create a path leading to the ambit of a higher level of awareness. The door represents the threshold of many opposite things, including reality and fantasy, birth and death, day and night, etc. If one wishes to pass this door, he must realize the spiritual power of these opposite things. The artist uses the shadow of rainbow or qi to express such symmetry. With a collected mind, one can magically pass through this door. For us who are so often restricted by ourselves, the door gives us an exit for an escape, which is an encouraging thought.
