Stone Sculpture
Void & Substantial Life
84x28x52
The stonework is made of a rectangle marble which is subtly carved with a seemingly man’s face, while the face seems to be eager to penetrate the surface of a scene and presents a face faintly discernible creating a sense of tension with instant pulling force and specially spatial effects. The artist uses the exploration of outer and inner stone to express the image shape between void and entity, and the perception of visual illusions. A human face covered over by a thin membrane seems to symbolize that there are some secrets concealed inside one’s mind and are not expected to be found by others or confronted by the protagonist. It only makes us more eager to peep at the Buddhistic Zen concept between the inner world and the void, clearness and vagueness, understanding and innocence.
