Hualien Stone Sculpture Museum

There are two square stones erecting tandem and interdependently upon the rectangular base which is as rhythmic as waves, while the undulant surface of the base is mimicked the shape of human’s lower abdomen. More exactly speaking, it is mimicked the period from the small navel pit to groin. The artist subtly applies lines to highlight the subtle differences between male and female figures and contrast the unique beauty of the two genders’ postures and sex characters. The right square is a male figure, while the left is a female one. The simple and contracted square here is the miniature of human being which the artist uses to praise the harmony of two genders and the indefinite beauty of love. Furthermore, viewers can take one more step to savor how the artist uses simple curves and lines with dexterity and organized order to express God’s perfect creation of male and female bodies.
