Tree of Life
The artist is used to complete the model of stone works with successive components. The work “Tree of Life” is made of several successive petal-like shapes as if it is a geometric model of a cut petal or fruit being stacked and composed. Every geometric-shape section of the work is flat and sleek in stacked-up layers, and the upward extension of growth gives viewers a sense of continuity for the flower’s blossoming. Such technique is similar to the attributions of origami and paper-cutting art, and the successive figures also contain the fun of childhood memories. The difference between stonework and origami consists in the dexterous effects of the chisel, while the dexterity in paper cannot be presented in the carving of stone material.
