Stone Sculpture
Wind-like Old Dream
36*20*120
The artist is good at carving female subjects. The work chisels out a female figure standing pretty and charmingly, as her wavy hair flying with the wind. In the stone sculpture, the woman faces the wind with peaceful mind and is intoxicated with the scenic view. It reminds viewers of the famous painting “Birth of Venus” created in 1485 by the Italian virtuoso in Renaissance, Sandro Botticelli, i.e. the classical tableau of the beautiful Goddess Venus who takes charge of love and beauty is born from the sea. Both of the two paintings verify the dual purposes of male artists as they depicting female body: on the one hand, they try to explore the beauty of human body by way of arts; on the other hand, they reflect the ideal female image in their mind.
