Stone Sculpture
Passing through Civilization & Barbarism
120x54x68
When a stone is presented in front of you, how would you get to understand it? The sculptor Wen-Ching Tsai uses stone to open up the long and distant (human) history to let us ponder the relationship and changes between us and the environment. The work is presented by a high-spirited V model with unequally and unevenly opposite plane, while the smoother plane of the right angle represents the progress of human civilization, the irregularly rough plane symbolizes undeveloped wildness. And the flowing liquid passing through carries travelers’ moods to come and go to an unknown situation which seems like a trip with smooth and rugged roads.
