Hualien Stone Sculpture Museum

The stonework depicts a cowboy sitting on the back of a cattle with a calf affectionate embracing his legs. It is laid in a green park to symbolically have a talk with the surrounding fields and make it as if the figures are sitting leisurely under the green trees. The scene becomes a dependently leisure world full of countryside fun. The motivation of the work is to recall the artist’s adolescent period when he lived a vital life in the countryside, while there were always cowboys pasturing cattle, and the farm cattle have accompanied with farmers to cultivate a field silently. But now, time has changed; industrial machinery has replaced animal force. Such leisurely fun of countryside life has disappeared. In order to preserve the time of being accompanies by cattle, you’d better keep such memory of feeling in mind.
