Homecoming
The artist is proficient at carving aboriginal subjects and integrates the Truku aboriginal’s life into his stonework which depicts Truku hunters’ persistence for livelihood. The Truku hunters have not only to hunt in the mountain area, but should also get ready to do lots of menial chores for a living. The work shows a strong tribesman carries a full basket of timbers with satisfied mood for homecoming with fruitful load, while his little son is walking side by side with him and the scene depicts a family education of practicing on hunting. The trials are tough and hard to pass, but the father and the son are enjoying living in such kind of environment. The work expresses the integration of the nature and the affection between the father and the son who lead their life seriously and deeply in their natural homeland, and shows that only simple tools for earning a living can be inherited from generation to generation for surviving. The artist projects his hunting kin into the rough stone texture so as to show out the spirit of the hunter kin’s perseverance.
