Mermaid
220x430x180
As to mermaid, we always have lots of legends and imaginations. The artist uses deconstruction and reconstruction to shape the mermaid with a series of three sets to break through the subsistent allegation of mermaid’s appearance among most people. From right to left, there is an opening of human mouth shape symbolizing mermaid’s head, while the middle set bulges slightly with a small round hollow like a human’s torso symbolizing the mermaid’s body, and in the end, the left side is an image of fish tail. Furthermore, there are several irregularly convex arrangements on the edge of every set which symbolize the swimming stance of a mermaid with its fins swaying. It also reminds us of the poignant ending that mermaid turned into bubbles in the end of Andersen Hans Christian’s fairy tale.
