2020花蓮國際石雕藝術季－戶外創作營國際徵件決選結果出爐
活動延期自10月24日至11月22日於文化局園區辦理
睽違3年的第12屆「2020花蓮國際石雕藝術季」即將於今(109)年10月展開，其中核心活動「戶外創作營」自去(2019)年12月13日起至今年2月1日止，如火如荼向世界各國石雕藝術家公開徵件，共收到來自五大洲52國共238位石雕家報名，報名件數超越上一屆，經評審團初審選出8國24位石雕家提案，再請24位石雕家寄送石雕模型至花蓮參加決選，模型決選最終入圍6國16位石雕家，後續由文化局邀請於10月24日至11月22日蒞臨花蓮參與為期一個月的現場大型石雕創作，其中臺灣石雕家共6位出線，成績斐然。
花蓮縣文化局局長江躍辰表示，「花蓮國際石雕藝術季」自1995年舉辦至今已屆滿25年，時隔3年未辦，許多縣內、外喜愛石雕藝術的民眾都相當期盼，同時核心活動「戶外創作營」過去曾為了向民眾推廣，於2014年在市區福町路舉辦、2017在花蓮港1號碼頭舉辦，時隔9年又再次回到文化局園區內舉辦，意義格外不同，就像回到家一樣。
今年活動也因遇全球嚴重流行性傳染病新冠肺炎（COVID-19）影響，複審國際模型收件的過程較往年更加艱辛，各國因應疫情實施封城或停工等措施，使收件時程比預期更長，所幸各國石雕家克服重重困難將模型平安寄抵臺灣，顯見他們參與花蓮國際石雕藝術季的渴望與決心。文化局原訂於9月27日至10月27日辦理活動，然評估交通部初步公布國際邊境解封時間預計在10月，為讓世界各國石雕家能順利入境參與，文化局決定將活動期程往後調整於10月24日至11月22日辦理。
「花蓮國際石雕藝術季」可謂全國歷史最悠久的藝術品牌之一，面臨許多新世代藝術潮流的挑戰，但花蓮仍持續不輟舉辦，因為「石雕」作為是花蓮藝術產業的價值核心，石雕藝術季所扮演的角色正是作為這塊土地與世界之間的聯結平台，不僅為世界各地優秀的石雕藝術家打造出一個優質的創作空間，也使世界看到花蓮的美麗。走過四分之一個世紀，花蓮已成為石雕之鄉，讓民眾更清楚看見這門藝術的永恆與獨特，以及對花蓮這片土地的價值，越在地越國際，這是花蓮不變的堅持──用自己的文化向世界說自己的故事。
由於此活動已在國際上建立高知名度，因此本屆戶外創作營參賽作品水準不只質量高，風格亦相當多元。6月9日文化局召開複審會議，共決選出6國16位優秀雕刻家。決選入選藝術家之國籍、姓名、作品名稱分列如下：

以上1至16名正取石雕藝術家，將由文化局正式邀請參與為期1個月（10月24日至11月22日）在文化局園區舉辦的現場創作，同時和民眾進行互動，屆時歡迎有興趣的民眾到文化局為石雕家們加油，一起探索石雕藝術之美。
The final runoff result of “the 12th Hualien International Stone Sculpture Symposium”
The 12th Hualien International Stone Sculpture Festival has been postponed for three years. The core activity “International Stone Sculpture Symposium” had started drafting openly excellent stonework in full swing from all over the world since Dec.13th, 2019 until Feb. 1st, 2020. The organizer has received registrations of 238 stone carvers from 52 nations all over the five continents. The number of applications exceeds the precious one. After the preliminary review by the jury, the proposals of 24 sculptors from 8 countries have been selected. Then, sculptors mailed their stone sculptural models to Hualien for runoff. Finally, there were 16 stone sculptors from 6 countries being shortlisted in the model runoff. And in the follow-up period, The organizer invited all the shortlisted stone sculptors to come to Hualien from Oct. 24th to Nov. 22nd for large-scale stone carving creation on site.
The process of reviewing the models collection becomes more difficult than ever due to the serious epidemic of fatal coronavirus spreading all over the world this year. The organizer schedules to handle the event from Sept.27 to Oct.27, but after evaluating the initial announcement declared by the Ministry of Transportation and Communication, ROC that the international border unblocking time is expected to be in October, the bureau decides to adjust the schedule of the event from Oct. 24 to Nov. 22 so as to allow foreign stone sculptors from all over the world to enter our country smoothly and attend the activity.
The organizer has selected 16 stone sculptors from 6 countries after review meeting. The nationalities, names and works of those chosen stone sculptors are listed as follows:

The organizer will invite those 16 sculptors mentioned above to attend the one-month event (from Oct.24 to Nov. 22, 2020) at the Cultural Bureau Park in Hualien. If the above candidate cannot attend the event, they will be replaced by the artist on the waiting list sequentially.
