Hualien Stone Sculpture Museum

The artist uses the representative bird of Hualien County, “Maroon Oriole”, as his theme of creation. Maroon Oriole is the subspecies Taiwan owns exclusively and it contains distinctively local characteristics. The artist wants to use the bird not only to symbolize that the earth has got the natural treasure, but also to display the beautiful world under the sun. The artist simplifies the image of bird, and presents a lovely bird with a neat shape. He applies the technique of adhesion and combination with double-color, and uses black marble to build the wings, while the body of the bird is made of sunset red marble to mark the beautiful orange wings of Maroon Oriole. Such technique is to carve the shape elaborately, then, grind and make up it. The highly lifting wings look as if the bird is beckoning more viewers as it expects like the fortune cat do.
