With his black marble sculptures, Chuang-Yong Chiou captures the dynamic sensations of flowing lines to bring stone puppet dolls to life, similar to the method in Hsiao-Hsien Ho’s film, The Puppetmaster. Drawing upon deep feelings of nostalgia to sculpt Dream, Chiou uses stone sculptures to pay tribute to a dying folk art tradition. The boy who once watched heroes flew and battled their way across the stage in puppet theater, now dedicate this sculpture as a record of folk life during his childhood.
