Sleeve Dance
37*17*56
From the beginning, Sleeve Dance was inspired by Ya-Yue Dance, which was performed in the Zhou Dynasty court. There, young women would dance the sleeve dance. Chuang-Yong Chiou uses sculpture to emphasize the contours beneath the waist of a dancer wearing a long skirt. The flowing and erratic waving of the sleeves evoke a passionate yet momentary shock. Their poses are like waves of water, evoking a sense of dramatic tension and rhythm. With rich imagery, it spreads an extraordinary boldness.
