Hualien Stone Sculpture Museum

The artist uses an egg-shaped sculpture to express the notion of new things emerging from existing yet unchangeable things. Similar to the joy of giving birth to new life after nine months of pregnancy, the stone is provided with new life. The creative process involved endows an endless amount of nourishment, which symbolizes the inner state of the sculptor. Chiou’s stone sculptures are filled with local and simplistic sentiments that enable people to sense a strong human touch.
