Hualien Stone Sculpture Museum

The black sphere and the leaf-like small boat with the section of the stone in the bottom showing naturally undulant texture and lines are carved distinctively as if the small boat is floating and shooting the rapids. The smooth and shining surface of the boat and the pristine & rough texture of the leaf-like stone are collided and contrasted strongly in modeling; while the conflicts, uneasiness and unbalance are just what arguments the artist desires to provoke. The neutral shade of gray and black along with concise figure have expressed the characteristic of natural materials, while the appearance of the stone material contains managed elaboration and brightness along with roughness is described compulsively to be unique modern aesthetics which it the very typical vocabulary of modern arts.
