Wafting Savor of Rice
185x350x64

Rice is the staple crop in Hualien. The sculptor uses abstract and impressionistic technique to present the impression of rice spikes which are flying with wind when the rice is ripened. A particle of rice lying on the ground leads viewers to imagine that the three stone slices extending upward are the symbol of rice spikes flying in the wind. The work conveys the joy and gratitude for the coming of seasonal harvest; on the other hand, it also presents the concern about agricultural hometown and the earth; because the good mountains and waters in Hualien are our mother land that provides us ample clothes and food along with today’s abundant harvest of crops.
