Introduction
Once being an accountant, Zhi-Ching Li accidentally tried out stone sculpture creation at age of twenty seven. While she fell in love with stone sculptures and started the undivided fate with it. She thinks that it is unnecessary to theorize much on stone sculptures and to stick to stereotypes from the past. Thus she chose a way of living nearby the home of stones where she may get touches. Li prefers to the tolerance that the stone sculpture show, like a wise elderly, you can get inspirations when you get to know them from more contacts.
“The audience may share the beauty of the creations and the works may beautify the environment.” She s suggests serenely. Calm her appearance may seem, and it is the main reason of her devotion to stone sculpture for more than twenty years.
Li finds serenity among stone sculptures like the serenity one feels while in nature. Carving is such an enjoyment to her, never tiring nor frustrating. The only inconvenience is the heavy work like carrying stones or operating the machines. The others are never the problems for her.
Her husband, Shan-Chi Teng, and Zhi-Ching Li are the “golden couple” among stone sculptors in Hualien, supporting each other in stone sculpture creation.
