地點：花蓮港1號碼頭親水遊憩區

「戶外創作營」自去(2016)年11月7日起至今年1月5日止，廣邀世界各國石雕藝術家公開徵件，共收到來自五大洲52國共213位石雕藝術家報名，競爭狀況熱烈，經專業評審團初審選出8國20位藝術家作品後，再依現場模型決選出12件入選作品。

花蓮縣文化局局長陳淑美表示，適逢「花蓮國際石雕藝術季」舉辦屆滿20年，同時相隔3年未辦，許多縣內、外民眾都昂首期盼，本屆公開徵件決選名額為12位，另外也特別邀請4位國、內外知名石雕家，包括臺灣藝術家王國憲、蔡文慶、中國藝術家劉洋以及西班牙藝術家哈維爾‧岡薩雷斯(Xavier Gonzalez)等一起來共襄盛舉，最終共16位石雕家參加現場大型創作。

Stone Sculpture Symposium

From last November 7 to January 5 this year, the Stone Sculpture Symposium has drafted openly to the stone sculptors all over the world and received totally 213 registrations from 52 countries in five continents. Under fierce competition, the professional juries initially selected twenty of the stonework which are created by the artists from eight countries. Then, they picked out twelve excellent stone sculptures among them by way of site models.

Chen Shu-mei, Secretary of Hualien County Cultural Affairs Bureau, indicated, now that “Hualien International Stone Sculpture Festival” has reached the 20th anniversary and because the event had been absent for three years, both locals and residents from other counties and countries have looked forward to appreciating it again. So we have publicly drafted and selected 12 sculptors, and invited four famous stone sculptors from local and oversea areas to promote this worthy undertaking together, including Taiwanese artists Wang Guoxian and Cai Wenqing, Chinese artist Liu Yang, French artist Xavier Gonzalez. Hereby, we have 16 stone sculptors totally in the end to join the large-scale creative activity on the spot in July.
